Indigenous Education (including Carrier language and culture) The school’s Indigenous Education program includes a Home-School Coordinator to strengthen connections between school and family, and an Aboriginal Advocate who supports students of Aboriginal ancestry academically, socially, and emotionally. The program also includes Carrier language and culture classes for all students, along with efforts to indigenize and decolonize throughout the curriculum. French Immersion École W.L. McLeod Elementary School Skehhodul’eh offers French Immersion for Kindergarten to Grade 6, starting in Kindergarten or Grade 1, with a focus on communication skills, fluency in two languages, and cultural appreciation. Student support / counselling School counsellors are available for individual and/or small-group counselling and can provide referrals to outside agencies; families are invited to contact the school for details. Food programs (Feeding Futures / Farm to School) The school provides a free daily breakfast and snack, and also offers a hot lunch program that runs five days a week as part of the BC and SD91 Feeding Futures program. Library The school library is described as the “centre” of the school, and the teacher-librarian welcomes ideas from students and parents.
