Hot lunch / nutrition The Crawford Bay PAC Hot Lunch Program (running since 2004) offers healthy, nutritious hot lunches at minimal cost, with options including a salad bar, soup, and a hot entrée. Subsidies are available for families who need support, and the program is volunteer-supported. StrongStart (early learning) StrongStart is a free early learning program for children ages 0–5 and their parents/caregivers, offering activities such as gym time, free play, songs, stories, crafts, and snacks. Registration is done by downloading a form, submitting it to the school, and emailing the program contact for additional information. Outdoor Education The school describes an “outstanding” Outdoor Education program offered as a secondary elective, and notes that elementary teachers also explore nature. Farm to School / food literacy The school participates in Farm to School, connecting students with healthy local food and hands-on learning that builds food literacy. Activities described include sourcing local food, cooking and eating local foods through hot lunch and foods courses, and growing a large garden with a greenhouse, fruit trees, composting, and vegetable/herb beds.

Transportation, Parking, and Getting Here

For StrongStart families, the school asks visitors to park in the school’s main parking lot; the Family Place is at the north end of the school building. School District 8 offers free student transportation for eligible riders, with annual registration required, bus passes used for boarding/disembarking, and required compliance with the district’s busing safety rules and bus code of conduct. The bus code of conduct includes procedures such as arriving at the stop early, staying seated while the bus is moving, and crossing in front of the bus only on the driver’s signal (never behind the bus).
