Early learning (StrongStart) StrongStart is a free early learning program for children ages 0–5 who attend with a parent or caregiver. Children have opportunities to play, create, and learn in a safe environment facilitated by an Early Childhood Educator, with activities such as art, stories, songs, music, and creative play. Student learning resources The school links families to learning tools and resources including BC Digital Classroom, ABC Reading Eggs, Raz Kids (Reading A-Z), and a library search tool. Food program The school offers a Hot Lunch option for students/families (details are provided through school resources).
J.S. Clark emphasizes a safe, caring, and nurturing environment where students can develop intellectual potential, emotional stability, positive social relationships, and lifelong learning habits, while valuing one another’s uniqueness. Students are expected to follow the District Code of Conduct and the school’s BUDDY rules: Be prepared, Use good manners, Do kind deeds, Discuss problems, and You always respect other people and their things. The school also promotes “Bucket Filling” to encourage kindness and a positive learning environment, and references “ERASE Bullying,” stating the school is a safe learning space for all learners.
School bus service is provided for in-town and out-of-town students. In winter, the district supports winter bussing for all students in the school’s catchment area, and cancellation updates are posted on the district website.
Families are directed to “School Registration” to learn how to register a child at a Fort Nelson school, including key forms, steps, and important details. For StrongStart, families are told to contact the school office for a registration form and bring the child’s Birth Certificate when registering.
