Programs and Services

Fresh fruit and vegetable program Ocean Grove Elementary participates in a government-funded fresh fruit and vegetable program to promote healthy choices in schools. Every two to three weeks, students receive “grown in BC” food, learn about it, and are encouraged to try a sample. School community garden / outdoor learning The school has a school community garden and outdoor educational space established in 2019. Each classroom has its own garden plot, and garden learning is connected to curriculum areas such as science, math, art, and health; surplus harvest is used by classrooms for cooking projects. Student support / English language support (ELL/ESD) The district provides ELL and ESD as additional services for academic and social support throughout the school year for students who need extra English language development. Supports include oral language, reading/writing, vocabulary development, and affirming students’ home cultures while building understanding of Canadian culture.

Transportation, Parking, and Getting Here

Campbell River School District provides courtesy bussing (free of charge) for students who live beyond walking limits to their nearest public school (K–Grade 3: more than 4 km; Grades 4–12: more than 4.8 km). Eligible riders (and students requiring accessible/special needs transportation) must apply online for a bus pass each school year; bus passes are scanned when boarding to support communications such as late-bus notifications. Students should be at the stop at least 5 minutes early, and families are responsible for children’s behaviour and safety at bus stops.
