"Intensive French" McKim offers an Intensive French Program that emphasizes accelerated French language acquisition, communication skills (speaking, listening, reading, and writing), and cultural awareness. Families interested in the program are encouraged to attend a parent meeting and consider the commitment through later grades. "Indigenous Education" The Indigenous Education program supports the success of students who self-identify as having Indigenous ancestry (First Nations, Inuit, and Métis) and aims to increase the presence of Indigenous languages, culture, and history for all students. Supports include outdoor experiential learning and in-class cultural learning opportunities, as well as learning connected to Truth and Reconciliation. "Student support / counselling" School counselling is available for McKim students to help them access resources and make informed personal and educational decisions. "Newcomer/settlement support (SWIS)" The school/district partners with the Columbia Basin Alliance for Literacy to provide Settlement Workers in Schools (SWIS) services for eligible immigrant and refugee students and their families, including help understanding the Canadian school system and referrals to community services.
