Programs and Services

French Immersion French Immersion uses French as the language of instruction across the curriculum while following the same BC curriculum as the regular program. Students are taught solely in French until Grade 3, when they begin learning to read and write in English as well. District learning services / student support School District 59 provides district-level supports including counselling (individual and group), speech and language services (assessment and intervention), and school psychology services (assessment and intervention planning). The district also offers supports for inclusion/learning needs, services for students with visual impairments and for students who are deaf or hard of hearing, balanced literacy support, and ELL support through assessment and consultation. Primary Project (district initiative) The district’s Primary Project focuses on literacy, numeracy, inquiry-based learning, and social-emotional learning, supported by current educational research and professional development. District helping teachers support areas such as literacy, numeracy, speech and language development, and special needs. Montessori (district program) Montessori emphasizes hands-on, multi-sensory learning, student choice, and learning at an individual pace. Classes are typically multi-age, with small-group lessons and time for independent work across areas such as language, mathematics, history, sciences, and the arts.
