Programs and Services

Student support / special education ACP is a Type 3 Ministry-designated facility and requires each student to have a personalized Student Learning Plan reviewed annually, with documentation such as a strength-based profile, goals (core competency, curricular, transition), progress reviews, and (as needed) behaviour support planning. The school notes it has two counsellors on staff and two district clinicians who support part-time, along with increased Youth Care Worker support. ACP also highlights Indigenous-focused learning supports such as the Dakelh Holistic Model for Learning, Elder visits, land-based opportunities, cultural support, and classroom cultural teachings. Career education and workforce connections ACP notes connections to Career Education Programs and references outside workforce programs (e.g., KOPAR, YouthWorks) as part of its offerings. Facilities / electives and hands-on learning ACP describes access to technology and specialized spaces including a full gym, Foods and Nutrition room, music and art spaces, and a full woodworking shop. It also lists the Bean Bar Cafe as an additional feature offered to all ACP programs.

School Culture and Expectations

ACP emphasizes strength-based planning and relationship-building during intake and onboarding, with staff supporting students to attune to the building and build relationships with key staff. The school states that attendance is monitored and that plans are developed to support success when barriers affect getting to school. ACP also highlights Indigenous-focused learning and the Dakelh Holistic Model for Learning, emphasizing values such as self identity, community, responsibility, truth, and honesty.

Enrollment

Referrals to ACP are made through a student’s home school. If a student is not currently registered, they must register at their catchment school first (unless they have been out of school for more than 1 year and have an outside agency supporting the referral). Prior to acceptance, information is gathered from the previous school/education facility, caregivers, and community agencies and reviewed by a District Learner Support screening committee to determine placement.
