Breakfast and Lunch Club Steeples provides breakfast each morning for students who were unable to eat a nutritious meal before school (e.g., cereal, toast, fresh fruit, milk, and juice). The school also provides a bagged lunch for students who come to school without one, with daily drop-off support from the Salvation Army. Indigenous Education The school offers Indigenous Education supports focused on incorporating Indigenous perspectives and cultural practices. The Indigenous Education Support Worker role includes supporting Indigenous learners and families through the district’s Indigenous Education Enhancement Agreement, guided by principles such as culture, respect, belonging, achievement, collaboration, and celebration of success. StrongStart StrongStart is offered as an early learning opportunity where parents and caregivers can participate in their child’s early learning experiences. Student support / learning services (including speech and language) Steeples’ Learning Services team includes Learning Services Teachers, an Indigenous Education Support Worker, a counsellor, youth care workers, a Speech-Language Pathologist, and Education Assistants. Speech-Language Pathology services include assessment and support for areas such as articulation, fluency, receptive/expressive language, social communication, AAC, voice, and early literacy skills; families are encouraged to start by discussing concerns with the classroom teacher.
Steeples says it strives to inspire children and foster a safe learning environment that encourages cooperation, positive self-esteem, and respect for others. The school emphasizes the importance of parent–staff collaboration and encourages positive, ongoing communication as partners in a child’s educational growth.
