Programs and Services

Breakfast (Breakfast Buddies) A free hot breakfast is served every Thursday morning, and all students are welcome. Parent volunteers are needed. Lunch program (District School Meals Program) Families can optionally purchase low-cost, healthy lunches prepared at a district school and delivered to Rochester. Payment is made through SchoolCash Online; families experiencing financial hardship are invited to speak with the principal about subsidies. Student support / special education (Student Services) Student Services include Speech and Language, Learning Assistance, English as a Second Language (ESL), and support for students with Gifted or Hearing designations. Students with a Ministry designation receive an Individual Education Plan developed annually in consultation with parents. Library All K–5 students have a scheduled weekly book exchange time. The library also hosts Book Fairs, Family Reading Nights, and a Writers’ Club, and offers a Library Monitor program for intermediate students. Clubs and leadership Rochester offers extracurricular opportunities intended to build friendships and a sense of belonging, including a running club (Rocket Runners) and student leadership roles such as Noon Hour Monitors and Student Morning Announcers. Music / Choir Choir is listed as an activity. Culture and arts Rochester has developed a drum/singing group supported by the community, including the creation of deer hide drums that can also be signed out by teachers for classroom use.
