Programs and Services

Student support / special education Leigh’s Learning Services Team (teachers, support staff, counsellors, and administrators) develops strategies and programs for students with special learning needs and can refer students to district services. Available supports include Counselling, EAL, Gifted programming, Learning Assistance, a Learning Resource Program (accommodations to access the curriculum), a Skill Development Program (including IEP development and programming), and supports focused on meaningful inclusion and independence. Counselling The school counselling program focuses on students’ social, emotional, and developmental needs. Services include counselling, consulting/coordinating with parents and staff, crisis response, educational services, and referrals to district and community supports. Library / Learning Commons The school library’s mission includes promoting literacy and a love of reading, and supporting information, critical, and digital literacy so students can access, evaluate, and use information effectively and ethically. Lunch program Leigh offers monthly hot lunch days and participates in an elementary school meals program that provides nutritious lunches prepared at Centennial Secondary’s teaching kitchen and delivered to the school. The school notes it may be able to support families through a reduced lunch program and asks families to contact the principal if finances are a barrier.
