Programs and Services

Library / Library Learning Commons (LLC) The Library Learning Commons promotes inquiry-based learning through stories and story walks, author studies and genres, word work/vocabulary development, and “build and create/design” activities connected to books. Students may also use the Destiny Discover catalog to place holds, do safe searches, and write book reviews. Lunch program The school uses an online lunch ordering system (Munchalunch) for its lunch program. Student support / special education and learning services Student learning support is provided through Resource Room and Skill Development teachers, EAL (English as an Additional Language) teachers, school counselling, a Gifted Program teacher, and Speech and Language Therapy. The school’s Student-Based Team meets regularly to discuss referrals for support from teachers and parents, with additional district-level support available where applicable. Technology / digital learning The school reports that every classroom has access to laptops and iPads, and many classrooms have SMART Boards and Smart TVs. Students may also use tools such as Microbits and Dash and Dot robots for coding and robotics, and digital literacy is taught in classrooms and during Library Learning Commons time.
