Programs and Services

Library / Learning Commons The school library’s mission is to promote and support literacy and a love of reading, and to build students’ information fluency so they can access, evaluate, and use information effectively and ethically. Families can also access the online catalogue and district electronic learning resources. Counselling A school counsellor is available at Baker Drive Elementary every Tuesday and Friday. Students can be referred by school staff and/or parents, and families can email to discuss concerns confidentially. Student support / special education The student services team includes teachers, support staff, counsellors, and administrators who develop strategies and programs for students with special learning needs and can refer students to district services. Available supports include EAL, Gifted programming, Learning Assistance, a Learning Resource Program (for adaptations/modifications), and a Skill Development Program (including IEP development and programming for low-incidence needs). Montessori Program (Program of Choice) Baker Drive offers an SD43 Montessori Program of Choice, with entry in Kindergarten and Grade 1 only. Applications are submitted to the School Board Office (per the district’s Montessori program information). Lunch program The school has a hot lunch program run by the PAC. Technology The school integrates technology across subject areas to support student learning and responsible digital citizenship.
