Programs and Services

Student safety / respectful schools Fairview provides “Fair Notice” to families that violence and threats of violence will not be tolerated, and it references the district’s Violence Threat Risk Assessment policy and protocol. Student support / inclusion and accessibility Personal digital devices are not permitted during instructional time; when technology is needed for learning, students use school-provided devices. The school notes that personal devices may be permitted for inclusion and accessibility needs (e.g., communication, medical/health needs) and as defined within an individual education plan. Student well-being / problem-solving Fairview encourages students to use the WITS strategy (Walk Away, Ignore, Talk it out, Seek help) when someone is bothering them or they are faced with a problem.

School Culture and Expectations

Fairview’s Code of Conduct is designed to maintain a safe, caring, and orderly school environment and to clearly communicate behavioural expectations across settings (at school, travelling to/from school, and at school-related activities). The school promotes socially responsible behaviour and a welcoming learning environment. Students are encouraged to be “ROCKS”: Respectful, Ownership, Cooperation, Kindness, and Safety. The Code of Conduct also emphasizes respect for human rights, inclusion, fairness, and equity, with expectations not to discriminate on protected grounds. The school has a dress code focused on safety, inclusion, and respectful expression, and it outlines expectations and consequences related to bullying, intimidation, and unsafe behaviour.

Transportation, Parking, and Getting Here

Families are asked to follow posted traffic and parking regulations and drive safely, especially during heavy traffic times. The drop-off zone is for drop-off and pick-up only; families are asked not to park there and to stop only when their child is ready to get into the vehicle immediately. If you need to leave your car, the school directs drivers to park in the parking lot to the south of the school or on the street. The north parking lot is for staff only unless previously arranged with the principal.

Enrollment

For kindergarten registration, the school directs families to the district’s online kindergarten registration information page for details on the registration process, phases, required documentation, and acceptance criteria. Fairview notes that registration is open for children who will be 5 years old on or before December 31 of the entry year and references multiple registration periods (e.g., sibling, programs of choice, general) that open at 12 p.m. (noon).
