School Culture and Expectations

QMS’s code of conduct emphasizes a safe, caring, and orderly environment that supports purposeful learning. The school promotes the values of the BC Human Rights Code and prohibits discrimination (including based on race, ancestry, religion, disability, sex, sexual orientation, and gender identity/expression). Students are expected to act with respect, compassion, and integrity, report bullying/harassment, and contribute positively to the learning environment; discipline is described as focusing on prevention and restoration when possible. The school also restricts personal digital devices to educational purposes, with exceptions documented in an IEP/LSP or for medical/health needs.

Transportation, Parking, and Getting Here

Students may bring bicycles, scooters, or skateboards, but must walk them while on school property before and after school; helmets are required when riding to and from school. Bikes can be locked at racks in front of the school (the school is not responsible for lost/damaged items). For safety, the campus is secured during the day (doors locked except the main entrance), and visitors must enter through the front door, check in at the office, and wear a visitor badge. Students must stay on school grounds during the day unless they have written permission to go home for lunch; there is no supervision before or after school.

Enrollment

Families are directed to the district registration page for how to register for a new school year (including deadlines). To register during the school year or after deadlines, families book an appointment with the district registration team, bring completed forms and required paperwork, and can request a translator when booking. Placement is based on catchment and space availability; out-of-catchment/transfer requests are only accepted at certain times/conditions, and high-demand placements may be determined by lottery.
