Montessori program Connaught Heights offers both Montessori and mainstream (regular) programs for Kindergarten to Grade 5. Student nutrition / Lunch program Connaught Heights participates in the district’s Fuel Up! Lunch Program, which offers nutritious, affordable lunches through a partner provider (The Lunch Lady). Menus follow provincial nutrition guidelines and include options such as daily vegetarian and halal dishes. Student support / special education The school’s personal digital device rules note exceptions when a device supports a specific curricular objective and is part of instructional planning, including supports aligned with an Individual Education Plan (IEP), Learning Support Plan (LSP), or a medical/health need.
The school’s Code of Conduct is intended to maintain a safe, respectful, and enthusiastic learning community, and to make shared values and expectations clear for students, staff, and families. It aligns with the BC Human Rights Code and prohibits discrimination (including based on race, ancestry, religion, disability, gender, and sexual orientation or gender identity). The school emphasizes respectful communication, critical thinking to solve problems and resolve conflicts, safe play, and defending others’ rights to be different. When addressing misconduct, the school notes it considers factors like age and circumstances and focuses on restorative consequences where possible.
For traffic safety, a crossing guard is on duty at Eighth Avenue and 22nd Street, and families are asked to follow the guard’s instructions and observe reduced speed zones. The school also links families to the City of New Westminster’s safe travel routes to school and notes the city has supported school travel planning to help build a safe, accessible, and healthy community.
Families are directed to the district registration site for how to register for a new school year (including deadlines). To register during the school year or after deadlines, families are asked to book an appointment with the district registration team, bring completed forms and required paperwork, and note that placements are by catchment and space availability. The school explains that if Connaught Heights is full, out-of-catchment applications/transfers are generally not accepted (except for siblings already attending out-of-catchment), and high-demand placements may use a lottery; students may be placed at the next available school and added to a wait list for their catchment school.
