Programs and Services

Early French Immersion / Programs of Choice Early French Immersion is offered at École Lord Tweedsmuir. The district notes that access to programs of choice is by application and that there are annual parent information nights. Indigenous Education The school’s Indigenous Education program supports the academic and social success of Aboriginal students and provides cultural experiences for students. The school has an Aboriginal Support Worker who supports Aboriginal learners and shares Aboriginal culture in the school. Early Learning (pre-K) The school offers Ready, Set, Learn (introducing four-year-olds to school) and Getting Ready for Kindergarten (tips to help families prepare for Kindergarten). It also offers a French Story Time Family Evening (“Bonjour – Bonne Nuit”). Transportation, Parking, and Getting Here

A crossing guard is provided at Eighth Avenue and 17th Street, as well as behind the school on Hamilton Street, and students are expected to follow their direction. Families are asked to use crosswalks, follow the lower speed zone, and obey parking signage at the front of the school; parents are also asked not to park or drop off students in the staff parking lot at the back of the school. The school encourages safe walking practices and provides guidance for planning a safe route to school. Visitors are asked to call ahead to make an appointment and must sign in at the office and wear a visitor tag while on site.
