Core subjects are taught in English, while students learn Mandarin daily through Mandarin Language Arts (this is not an immersion program). Student support / special education The school hosts the district CORE (Communication and Regulation) Program (formerly a district autism program). Referrals are made through a student’s catchment school, and district learning services determine placements. Arts and music The school has the Vancouver Extracurricular Music Society (VEMS) Choral Program operating in-school and also offers an Artist in Residence Studio (AIRS) Program to provide consistent access to visual arts education. After-school programs After-school programming is provided through the John Oliver Community School Team, with registration and support available for families who need assistance with fees.
