Student support / special education The district provides eligibility-based transportation assistance for students with physical or mental disabilities that prevent safe travel to and from school, determined by the superintendent with medical advice. The district also describes providing English Language Learning (ELL) support through its International Education program materials. Early learning (pre-K) Richmond School District offers free StrongStart BC early learning for children aged 0–5 (attending with a parent/caregiver) at several district centres; these are ECE-facilitated, play-based programs. The district also provides a directory of licensed child care operators located on school grounds.

Transportation, Parking, and Getting Here

Richmond School District offers school bus transportation for eligible students and limited courtesy riders, based on Board Policy 520. Eligibility is based on distance from a student’s catchment school (K–3: more than 4.0 km; Grades 4–12: more than 4.8 km), with additional consideration for students whose disabilities prevent safe travel. Families apply online; bus schedules are emailed about one week before school starts in September, and the Transportation Department can be contacted for support.
