Programs and Services

Student support / special education Surrey School District’s Student Support team works with school teams, families, and community partners to create inclusive, equitable, and caring learning communities, with a focus on supporting students with exceptional learning needs. Supports include helping coordinate specialized services for students with individual needs, supporting effective educational planning, and providing professional learning and resources to school teams. Clubs / sports / extra-curricular Maddaugh students are invited to participate in a variety of activities throughout the school year, including school-based activities and events (meets, games, or play days) with other Surrey schools. The school notes appreciation for support from coaches, teachers, volunteers, parents, and drivers.

School Culture and Expectations

Maddaugh’s code of conduct centers on the goals “Work Hard, Be Kind, Be Your Best You,” and outlines shared rights (to be safe, to learn, to be heard, and to be valued) and responsibilities (including listening, respecting others’ rights, speaking up for help, and contributing to a caring school culture). The code describes inappropriate behaviours (including bullying, harassment, racism/discrimination, threats, unsafe actions, and misuse of cyberspace/devices) and emphasizes reporting concerns to trusted adults. The school also sets expectations for personal digital devices (generally put away during recess/lunch in elementary, with exceptions for specific needs) and for dress (appropriate for a positive learning environment; hats/hoodies outside; no alcohol/drug references).
