Home Reading Program (after-school) Every student is expected to participate in the Home Reading Program by reading a minimum of 15 minutes per night during the school year. Kiwanis of Chilliwack sponsors the program and provides incentives as students reach benchmarks. Mentoring (Big Brothers Big Sisters) Through a partnership with Big Brothers Big Sisters Chilliwack, students in Grades 2–5 can be matched with an adult mentor who meets once a week for one hour during the school year. Physical activity and outdoor learning Teachers use field trips to enrich learning, including school-community hiking excursions throughout the year. Intermediate students also participate in a Run-Walk-Jog program (Grades 4–6) twice per week, setting and working toward personal distance goals. Student support / special education Evans Elementary lists Education Assistants, a Child & Youth Care Worker, and an Aboriginal Support Worker as part of its support staff. The school also lists a school counsellor (Mrs. Marissa Moens). Athletics and extracurricular sports Childcare Evans Elementary is home to Wind and Tide childcare.
