Programs and Services

Transportation (school bus) Central Okanagan Public Schools provides bus transportation across Lake Country, Kelowna, West Kelowna, and Peachland. Families must submit an online transportation application; students must be registered on a route to ride, and registered riders are issued a bus pass that is scanned when boarding/exiting. The district also outlines bus rider rules and safety expectations (for example, arriving early to the stop, remaining seated, and crossing only when signaled by the driver). Student fees support (transportation subsidy) If a student is assigned a seat on a bus route, transportation fees are applied to the parent’s School Cash Online account. The district describes payment options and notes that families can apply for a fee subsidy/waiver in cases of financial hardship (including an “Exceptional Circumstances” option coordinated through the school principal).

Transportation, Parking, and Getting Here

District transportation guidance asks students to be at the bus stop 10 minutes before the scheduled pickup time and to wait in a “Safe Zone.” Students are expected to remain seated while the bus is moving, keep the aisle clear, and follow safety rules for loading/unloading (including crossing only in front of the bus when red alternating lights are flashing and only after the driver’s signal). Only registered riders may take the bus; guest riders are not permitted.

Enrollment

District enrollment is completed through Central Okanagan Public Schools. Families are directed to: (1) find their catchment school, (2) watch the enrolment application video tutorial, and (3) complete the online enrolment application; required documentation is provided to the school after the application is submitted. The district also notes that some students (e.g., families with certain immigration/work/refugee statuses) must first visit the Welcome Centre to receive an enrollment code before an application can be completed.
