Programs and Services

**Student support / counselling** A.S. Matheson has a school counsellor (Mrs. Krisztina Douglas) who helps students work through emotional and social challenges that may be affecting learning and socialization. In consultation with staff and families, the counsellor helps develop and implement strategies to support student success and can recommend additional services for more intense or ongoing needs.

Transportation, Parking, and Getting Here

**School bus transportation (district information)** Central Okanagan Public Schools (SD23) provides school bus transportation across the district, with routes reviewed annually. Families must submit an online transportation application; students must be registered on a route to ride, and only registered riders may be transported (no guest riders). **Safety expectations** Students are expected to arrive at the bus stop about 10 minutes before pickup, remain seated while the bus is in motion, keep aisles clear, and follow driver directions for safe loading/unloading and street crossing. The district emphasizes “WE STOP – YOU STOP” and reminds drivers to stop for school buses when red alternating lights are flashing. **Fees** If a student is assigned a seat, transportation fees are added to the parent’s School Cash Online account, and payment arrangements must be set up within 30 days. A fee subsidy/waiver process is available for families who qualify.

Enrollment

Kindergarten enrollment is completed online through the district’s school enrollment website (www.sd23.bc.ca/school-enrollment) or via the school’s Registration button. The school notes that if assistance is needed, families can call the school office at 250-870-5112. For families new to Canada who are not Canadian citizens, documents are uploaded through the district Welcome Centre first, and an enrollment code is required to complete online registration.
