Safe Arrival / Attendance reporting Families can report student absences through the SchoolMessenger Safe Arrival program using the SchoolMessenger app, the Safe Arrival website, or an automated toll-free phone line. Transportation / School bus service (district) Kootenay-Columbia School District provides bussing based on eligibility (e.g., distance from the catchment school) and requires students to be registered to ride. New riders (or families with address changes) must submit a new bus application, and returning riders are asked to confirm schedules when the district sends confirmation.

Transportation, Parking, and Getting Here

District transportation eligibility is based on whether a student lives in a serviced zone (beyond 2 km from their catchment school for Grades K–7; beyond 3 km for Grades 8–12), with distance measured via public road/pathways from the nearest public road access point. To maintain eligibility, students must use transportation at least 20% of the time (e.g., 2 out of 10 rides per week). Bus registration is required for all riders; returning riders confirm schedules and new riders (or address changes) apply through the district’s bus registration process.
