Health and well-being (Healthy Schools) School District #19 partners with Interior Health and the Health Promoting Schools program, which aims to enhance well-being for students, staff, parents, and community partners. Student support / counselling Begbie View states it is dedicated to student well-being, and the district elementary counsellor provides direct counselling services to students and families (families are invited to contact Ms. McDowell or their child’s teacher).

School Culture and Expectations

Begbie View’s mission is to create a culture of inclusion and respect so students can become life-long, creative and critical learners who are connected, compassionate, and contributing community members. The principal’s message highlights a commitment to a vibrant and inclusive community, a recognition of strength in diversity, and learning connected to Truth and Reconciliation. The school’s “B.E.S.T.” foundation is described as respect and responsibility, good effort, safety, and thoughtfulness.

Transportation, Parking, and Getting Here

For traffic flow, the school reserves the BVE cul-de-sac for Kindergarten and Grade 1 families (and Cornerstones drop-off/pick-up). Other families are asked to drop off and pick up along Ninth Street or another nearby walkable street, and the school encourages students to walk or ride when possible. Students in Begbie View’s catchment area are not typically bused because the school is centrally located, though students may use buses for field trips; bus behaviour is expected to follow the school Code of Conduct and district expectations.

Enrollment

The school website directs families registering a K–12 student to use the district’s K-12 Student Registration form (and a separate StrongStart registration form for StrongStart). After the online form is processed, the school contacts families about required documentation, which must be received before registration is finalized. The site lists required documentation such as proof of birth date, guardianship, citizenship, and BC residence.
